Working approach

Speech-language pathology (SLP) and translation are two complementary disciplines that enrich each other : SLP is the science that studies the production and perception of both spoken and written languages. In other words, it focuses on how words are pronounced and how they are perceived by others, whether they are written or not.

As a speech-language pathologist, I have a good understanding of language, including grammar, syntax, and semantics, which would be invaluable in accurately translating written content from one language to another.

In the field of translation, speech therapy can be useful in helping translators understand how a word or sentence is pronounced in a specific language, which can be important in ensuring an accurate and correct translation of the original text. For instance, if a word is misused or mispronounced in one language, it may result in a mistranslation into another language, which can lead to confusion or misunderstanding.

In addition, SLP can also be useful in helping translators choose the most appropriate words and sentences for a translation, taking into consideration how they will be perceived by readers or listeners of the target language. This can be especially important when translating technical or scientific texts, where it is important to use precise and accurate terms.

I also have expertise in language development, language disorders and communication, which can be helpful in ensuring that the translated text is clear and easy to understand for readers.
